The Story Behind the Series

Across the world, women are breaking barriers in leadership, business, and innovation - but the truth is, the more successful a woman becomes, the more vulnerable she can be to harmful and abusive behaviours, both personally and professionally. Research continues to show the connection between gender bias, workplace discrimination, and coercive control. Studies such as McKinsey’s Women in the Workplace 2024 Report highlight that:

  • 42% of women in leadership experience workplace microaggressions that undermine their authority or competence

  • 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime (Office for National Statistics, 2023), and over 70% of those women are in employment (Swanberg, Logan & Macke, 2005)

  • The higher a woman’s professional visibility, the greater her exposure to workplace misogyny and coercive power dynamics (International Labour Organisation, 2022)


This partnership series between Choose to Grow and Own My Life was created to respond to this reality. Our mission is simple:

To empower women to feel safe, confident, and in control, in every space they occupy.

These 30-minute lunchtime micro-sessions are designed for every woman, whether you’re at the start of your career or leading from the top. You can join one, or experience all seven sessions for the full journey during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2025 that will take place from November 25 to December 10, 2025.


Each webinar blends theory, awareness, and practical application from the Own My Life programme to help you build self-efficacy - the skill of trusting your ability to influence your motivation, behaviour, and environment. Join us during your lunch break to take action, reflect, and grow. You can attend publicly as part of the 16 Days of Activism movement, or privately, in a safe and confidential space wherever you are.

Why This Series Exists

This is more than professional development, it’s activism in action. The Choose to Grow x Own My Life Partnership Series has been created to:

  • Equip women with tools to navigate gendered power structures safely

  • Build confidence and self-efficacy, not just “feel-good” confidence

  • Create a global sisterhood of women who lead, support, and thrive together


Each 30-minute session is a small but powerful step towards a world where women can own their stories, own their safety, and own their lives - in and out of work.
